First, if you’re reading this, thank you for being here.
I am not a writer – far from it. But I am a millennial. Which means I come from a generation who lived in the golden age of blogs and long-format posts. And even if it seems like that era has long been forgotten, please indulge me while I share my thoughts with you occasionally through this page about what we’re working on and what we’ve been experiencing in the creative industry lately.
Last October, I attended some important talks by DTI for Design Week PH and the 13th Annual Professional Summit led by the PAPRB and PRC. An important takeaway from the talks I attended is that even if I come from a creative field and the other talks delved deeper into different policies and sectors concerning financial aspects, healthcare, etc., we all converge and do our little parts to keep the system running. Each different profession creates or invents, or improves a certain slice of its industry and contribute to the whole.
Which brings us to the introduction of this company. True, this interior design firm just started this year. And if ever you are wondering what Cosmic Design Collective stands for, in its most vulnerable form – it stands for hope. I built this company with the idea of hoping for things to come together in the most conspicuous manner even when they start out chaotic like puzzle pieces.
In my short (I still consider over a decade short) but colorful experience as an interior designer, my work (and life) feels like a compilation of things falling into place. Textures, memories, layers, the clients’ and designers’ personalities, materials, furniture pieces, and the trade partners we encounter along the way will eventually determine what the output is going to look like. Often, what we turn over looks a bit different from the original design. In my opinion, that feels right and seems even better. Because my own ego as a designer stepped aside and gave way to all other possibilities and elements that would like to be part of the design that I didn’t consider yet at the start. I’m not going to lie. It can be frustrating but most of the time it’s quite nice to know that this company has a level of discernment AND humility to understand the space’s essence far beyond its basic requirements and (let’s be honest) Pinterest design peg. And I really believe that might be the key to the different flavors of our projects.
Cosmic Design Collective’s name came from an exercise of reflection. I wanted the name to embody the end goal, which is to acknowledge that our work process allows things to flow with divine guidance and come together to create something cool which the end users can maximize and ultimately love.
It stands for the hope that you get resonate with this message and that somewhere along the way I get to work with one of you reading right now. It’s the hope that we get to create something meaningful together.
Thanks for giving me a portion of your time and have a great day!
Cosmic’s resident overthinker,
Eunice
